My name is Laura.
Growing up in southern California, I was heavily influenced by Catholic iconography
and the entertainment climate. Then, I lived in Japan for two years. My perspectives
were turned upside down and around. I fell in love with many things Japanese,
and lasting impressions of design, art and daily living seeped into me during
my stay.
Now, living in northern California and linking to internet sites of increasingly
specific design niches, I had the idea that importing Decole products might
be a nice way to stay connected to Japan. I thought I could bring a little cute
from there to you, my customer, and put years of formal art and design training
to some use on this web site.
I was a serious and prolific pen pal in my youth. loloko gives me the same satisfaction
and fulfills my life long love of preparing and mailing packages. Lolo was the
name given to me by a toddler. When ko is
added to a girl’s name in Japanese, it is a term of endearment.
In addition to loloko, I work four days a week for our local hospice doing administrative
work. By nature, I am a helper and firmly believe my job needs to be contributing
to the community in a positive way.
loloko launched in January 2006. I do hope you will be inspired, tickled or
charmed by the items you find here.
